WTA Mallorca Open 2018

Casi nada.

The Mallorca Open has a new champion. In an intense final of one hour and 35 minutes, Tatjana Maria defeated Anastasija Sevastova, the defending champion, 6-4 and 7-5 and celebrated the first title of her career on the grass of Santa Ponsa at the age of 30.
Maria, No. 79 in the world, defeated consecutively Anett Kontaveit, fourth seed, Carina Witthoeft, Lucie Safarova, seventh seed, Sofia Kenin, one of the breakthrough stars of the tournament, and finally Sevastova in the final.
Initially, Maria imposed her style on Sevastova, taking the first set when the end was very tight.
However, the German exhibited her candidacy for the cup in the second set, after overcoming an initial 0-4. By placing the 4-4 on the scoreboard, winning consecutively four games and returning the equality to the final, Maria unbalanced the linear trajectory of Sevastova and accelerated quickly to victory, which made the rest his own.
Maria premiered her record at the WTA circuit and also became the first mother to win a title in 2018.
